Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is an important contributor to digitalizing a project’s work. Achieving the benefits promised by MBSE proponents are harder to achieve in practice than initially meets the eye. Converting from paper-based methods to all digital methods represents a challenge not only within a company, but throughout the supply chain. The ability to specify and design systems, structures and components in an unambiguous manner is part of that challenge. The ability to exchange those requirements and designs in a reliable manner among tools within a company can be difficult. Adding to that issue is the need to exchange data among clients, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers who use a wider variety of tools and data models. Successful transition to digital execution requires solving all these challenges.
This Real World MBSE panel shares experiences and lessons learned from practitioners across multiple industries. This includes space, defense, oil and gas, nuclear and industrial facility development. Practical applications will be discussed by panel members, including discussion of where companies and industries are heading.
